Rajiv Shah (left) co-stars as the likeable but sometimes clueless police officer assigned to find the stolen diamonds. Rajiv is an amazing talent who remains active in film and video production. (See his IMBd listing.) Mark Alexander (right) has modeled internationally--you'll see some of his pictures in Corky's Hot Ice--and has trained as an actor, dancer and choreographer.
Mark Martinez (drag name Flava) offers up one of the movie's centerpieces. It is an incredible New Wave drag performance of the single "Fire" that many viewers say is worth the price of the entire movie. It is the best New Wave drag performance that we have ever seen. Gregangelo's Velocity Circus provides most of the colorful costumed characters including performers Kitten on the Keys doing "Silly Me" and Marisa Lenhardt with "Forgotten Opera." Gregangelo's live shows are magical. See his website!
Mark Calvano (left) plays the TV reporter. His bigger role in Corky's Hot Ice was as Executive Producer and co-producer. Comedy legend Prospero Luna (1934-2010) was a Philippines movie and television star whose career spanned almost half a century. (See his IMDd page.) Corky's Hot Ice was Prospero's final motion picture role. He was a great friend and booster of the movie, and we miss him. This maga- zine cover from 2007 captures his fun-loving spirit:
Chris Murphy (left, in bad drag) and Sara Shields (right, in purple hat) bring their pitch-perfect acting talents to Corky's Hot Ice. Chris plays the lead role of the zany pawn clerk, and Sara plays Rajiv Shah's love interest.
John Angell Grant is an actor who plays police captain Cal Murphy in Corky's Hot Ice. He is also a founding member of the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle and continues his review work today. (We hope he'll give Corky's Hot Ice a favorable nod!) Click the picture below to read a wonderful news story about his marriage in 2012:
Richard Titus (drag name Victoria Secret) plays "Drill Sergeant Drag Queen" in our movie. Richard is a long-time producer, performer, and host of one of San Francisco's most famous and long-running drag revues Fauxgirls. (Go see it at the Infusion Lounge when you are in town!) What was Richard's regular job before retirement? Homicide prosecutor for the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office! Nothing gets past Richard!
And the talent goes on...
