(a.k.a. BIG DIAMOND MYSTERY)
Steven LeMay (right) plays the title role of Corky Hotpoint. LeMay has been a long-time performer, including an appearance on TV's Project Runway. Gary Farris (left) plays Corky's friend and can now be seen on stage and screen in New York.
Pam and Dick Kellogg are real-life husband and wife. They bring their wonderful chemistry to the big screen as Eve and Frank Clarey. Eve, as it turns out, solves mysteries better than Frank, but he's the detective! Pam and Dick live in Alamo, California.
Jorge ("Joji") Isla is a comedic actor who is best known for his long-time television work in the Philippines. He has also appeared on stage and in more than 25 movies since 1988. Joji does a delightful turn as the scheming Manuel Seguerra in Corky's Hot Ice.
James Quedado (left) and David Harvey (right) play gay couple Ray Madrigal and Jeffrey. James is a talented stage actor in San Francisco who also appears in the movie Under One Roof. David is pastor of Celebration of Faith Praise & Worship Center in San Jose, California. David wrote a book that describes his painful journey of growing up gay in a deeply Christian household, and finding acceptance as an adult. We are delighted to have Donna Sachet (right) make a cameo appearance in Corky's Hot Ice. Donna is a beloved San Francisco icon who tirelessly hosts, performs, and promotes good causes. Visit her website, then see her live when she hosts Harry Denton's "Sunday is a Drag" revue at the Sir Francis Drake's Starlight room. To her left is one of the delightful performers from Gregangelo's Velocity Circus.
The incomparable Dana International is an international singing superstar who won the Eurovision award for her hit single "Diva." Dana lives in Israel where she continues to record and appear on television. We love Dana! If you don't already know all about her, learn more by starting at Wikipedia.
Rajiv Shah (left) co-stars as the likeable but sometimes clueless police officer assigned to find the stolen diamonds. Rajiv is an amazing talent who remains active in film and video production. (See his IMBd listing.) Mark Alexander (right) has modeled internationally--you'll see some of his pictures in Corky's Hot Ice--and has trained as an actor, dancer and choreographer.
Mark Martinez (drag name Flava) offers up one of the movie's centerpieces. It is an incredible New Wave drag performance of the single "Fire" that many viewers say is worth the price of the entire movie. It is the best New Wave drag performance that we have ever seen. Jack T. Best (drag name "Jackie Best")(center) was a systems analyst by day, and an accomplished drag performer by night in the San Jose, California area. Glenn Krumbholz (drag name Daphney Deluxe) (right) hosted and headlined many drag shows in the San Francisco area. To the left is actor Chris Murphy who plays the zany pawn clerk receiving a critique of his bad drag.
Gregangelo's Velocity Circus provides most of the colorful costumed characters including performers Kitten on the Keys doing "Silly Me" and Marisa Lenhardt with "Forgotten Opera." Gregangelo's live shows are magical. See his website!
Mark Calvano (left) plays the TV reporter. His bigger role in Corky's Hot Ice was as Executive Producer and co-producer. Mark has worked primarily in real estate, but he also flexes his considerable creative talents in clothing design, media, and events. To his right is another Mark: Mark Punzal who plays one of the pageant contestants. He is a program coordinator for the Educational Theater of Kaiser Permanente.
Comedy legend Prospero Luna (1934-2010) was a Philippines movie and television star whose career spanned almost half a century. (See his IMDd page.) Corky's Hot Ice was Prospero's final motion picture role. He was a great friend and booster of the movie, and we miss him. This maga- zine cover from 2007 captures his fun-loving spirit:
Chris Murphy (left, in bad drag) and Sara Shields (right, in purple hat) bring their pitch-perfect acting talents to Corky's Hot Ice. Chris plays the lead role of the zany pawn clerk, and Sara plays Rajiv Shah's love interest.
John Angell Grant is an actor who plays police captain Cal Murphy in Corky's Hot Ice. He is also a founding member of the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle and continues his review work today. (We hope he'll give Corky's Hot Ice a favorable nod!) Richard Titus (drag name Victoria Secret) plays "Drill Sergeant Drag Queen" in our movie. Richard is a long-time producer, performer, and host of one of San Francisco's most famous and long-running drag revues Fauxgirls. (Go see it at the Infusion Lounge when you are in town!) What was Richard's regular job before retirement? Homicide prosecutor for the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office! Nothing gets past Richard!
And the talent goes on...
